Recovery After an Earthquake
Aftershocks can occur, so you must be prepared for them. Although most are not as violent as the original earthquake, they can still be strong enough to do additional damage to weakened structures. Move around cautiously after an earthquake. Beware of objects which can fall off shelves or out of cabinets easily. For those people living in costal areas, beware of tsunamis. Definitely stay away from the beach if local authorities issue a tsunami warning.
Don't forget to check roofs, walls, chimneys, foundation, and other structures for stability.
The United States Geological Survey's website has excellent information about earthquakes, and we highly recommend you visit this website for more info.
