Recovery

Refer to the general information on recovery from disasters.

  1. Check all members of your family for injuries. If someone is seriously injured, do not attempt to move unless they are in immediate danger for further injury- call for emergency assistance.
     
  2. Proceed with caution around your home, workplace, or school.
     
  3. Check for down electrical wires, gas leaks, floodwaters
     
  4. Check for debris and areas of the building which appear unstable (e.g. broken glass, roofs, doors off their hinges, etc.)
     
  5. Stay off the streets as much as possible.
     
  6. Beware of animals which may now be in the area and may be disoriented and possibly violent.
     
  7. If there is damage to your home, call your insurance agent- make certain that you take lots of photos.
